NordyTrim Privacy Policy

NordyTrim is an inclinometer for showing the state of trim on a boat. It is published by NordyBits Limited. This policy explains what the app does with information on your device.

The short version

NordyTrim collects no personal data whatsoever. It has no account, no login and no analytics. It does not connect to the internet, and no information ever leaves your device.

Information the app does not collect

• We do not collect your name, email address or any other contact details.
• We do not collect your location. The app does not use GPS or any location service.
• We do not collect identifiers, advertising IDs or device fingerprints.
• We do not collect usage, diagnostic or crash data.
• We do not use cookies, advertising, or third-party analytics or tracking of any kind.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we share nothing with anyone, because we hold nothing to share.

Information used on your device

To do its job the app reads two things, both of which stay on your iPhone:

• Motion sensors. The app reads your iPhone's accelerometer and gyroscope to measure the angle at which the phone is lying. These readings are used only to display the angle and its averages. They are held in memory while the app is running, are used to draw the twenty-minute trace on screen, and are discarded when the app is closed. They are never written to permanent storage and never transmitted.
• Your settings. The calibration figure and the display orientation setting are saved on the device so they are still there next time you open the app. They are stored in the app's own private storage, are not personal data, and are deleted along with the app if you remove it.

Because nothing is transmitted, no data is transferred to us, to Apple, or to any third party. NordyBits Limited has no access to anything on your device.

Children

NordyTrim collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR and equivalent laws you have rights over personal data held about you. As we hold no personal data about users of NordyTrim, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct or erase. Deleting the app removes the settings it stored on your device.

Safety notice

NordyTrim is an aid to judging trim. It is not a certified marine instrument and must not be relied on for navigation or for any safety-critical decision.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new date above.
