The 2024 versions of the three boards are nearly complete along with a Windows and MacOS configuration app. There is a rotary switch and a USB socket on the rear of the new boards. Most common functions can be selected just by using the switch but more configuration options are available using the app.
The app allows allows adjustment of:
- Display brightness
- Function
- DC boards
- DC Voltage to one or two decimal places
- Current to zero or one decimal place
- Any shunt size from 50A to 1000A in 50A steps
- AC Voltage and Frequency
- AC Voltage to zero or one decimal place
- Frequency to one decimal place
- AC Current
- AC Current to zero or one decimal place
- Any CT size from 50A to 1000A in 50A steps
- Alerts - extra bright display when the voltage, current or frequency is out of the specified range
- Temperature alert - DC boards can monitor the ambient temperature and alert if it exceeds a set threshold. They also record the maximum temperature.
- Calibration - the boards are calibrated before despatch but can be recalibrated using the app.
I thought I had every possible Nordhavn panel meter covered by the three boards but this week a Nordhavn owner made an enquiry that included a DC board that needed to work with a 1000A/100mA shunt. Every one of the sixty or so DC boards that I've supplied have worked with a 50mA shunt. A slight redesign of the DC boards is underway and there will be a version that can work with 100mA shunts soon.
For boats without a dedicated frequency meter, the new AC voltage and frequency boards are able to temporarily show the frequency using either a push button switch connected to the two unused contacts on the rear plug or by holding a finger under the touch sensor below the display.
Ready for another evening of soldering!
